The following activities are available within Longrun Meadow
- Orienteering.
- Cycling
- Running.
The “Friends” have been working with Run England as part of their 321 initiative. A 2km and 1km route have now been installed with markers to show the way. A 3km route is planned when the 3rd bridge has been installed.
As part of the leisure facilities available to the public, Project Taunton have included the mapping and installing of 20 oak marker posts for a Permanent Orienteering Course (POM) around the Meadows.
Each post has a letter, (which is shown at that position on the map) and a number. For families or individuals wishing to use the POM as a fun family activity, or as training for orienteers, athletes, school projects etc. The map is available by Clicking Here
The map has been drawn by David Holmes of Quantock Orienteers and will be updated by him. The posts have been installed and will be maintained by Taunton Deane Borough Council and any groups wishing to use the course for an organised activity should contact their Leisure Department and notify the Friends of Longrun Meadow.
